Introduction to photoshop
Practical 1
In our first class Mr. Jeffrey taught us the basics of photoshop manipulation. Cropping, resizing, copying images from a web browser and other basics were taught. I also found out how to use layer masking to hide parts of a layer through simplistic brush-work. It was more of a tutorial lesson, so there wasn't really anything new I got, but the masking thing is definitely gonna come in useful.
Exercise 1: Create a composition on photoshop
Our first task was to create a composition on photoshop using a base image and a subject. I used Hacksaw Ridge's theatrical poster as a base and just slotted Thomas the Train right on top.
I used layer masking to cut out the unwanted parts of the image, and duplicated the base image to create a cut-out of the soldier. I then used Match Color to correct the overall colour of Thomas the Truck, and used a mix of Dodge/Burn and erasing to make him fit in with the rest of the background. Blurring of the edges completed the piece.
