Week 1 Introduction to module and Adobe Premier Pro tutorial
Today we were introduced to the module outline by Mr. Martin Chong, who went through with us how the entirety of the module will play out. The whole semester will revolve around creating a single, short film. Throughout the semester, various projects of the module will go through the planning, setting up, filming and composition of the film.

He also went through with us the basics of using Adobe Premier Pro. He showed us how to set up a new project and sequence, how to import footage, crop said footage using In and Out markers and bringing everything into the timeline. We watched a previous students' film submission, and used their original shots to create our own film to practice using the program.

Mr. Chong concluded the class by having us come up with ideas revolving around the theme of 'vision' and what we felt about it. He told us to explore the concept and try to define what it is ourselves.

Instructions

'Vision' theme exploration
Think about the theme of vision and try to interpret it. Brainstorm ideas about it and try to figure out what it means.

Work Processes

'Vision' theme exploration
I'd say the first thing that comes to mind when I think of the word vision is an idea. I'd say a vision is an idea thats so strong and prevalent that it gets to the point where we can picture it in reality. In a way I think it's kind of an optimistic look towards the future concerning a certain idea or aspiration, be it business plans, travel ventures, creative endeavors and so on.

"If you are working on something exciting that you really care about, you don't have to be pushed. The vision pulls you." - Steve Jobs

Another interpretation of vision is that of a dreamlike state where someone sees something that appears vividly real. It could be kind of like a dream or trance.

The most literal interpretation of the word has to got to be ability for someone to see. The sight aspect of vision per see. However from a story building perspective I'd probably opt for my initial interpretation of the event, as it's more open to future narrative possibilities.

Above is a mind map I did that visually lays out the various sub themes and concepts that the theme of vision could extend to.

Final Submissions

Feedback

After my first consultation with Mr. Martin, he said that I should start putting down visual ideas in the form of a mood board to further flesh out my exploration for the theme of vision. He also suggested that try creating different concepts for characters that could be the subjects of the various sub-themes I came up with.
