3/30/18 Week 1-14 Kamal Afiq [0330643] Games Design Week 1 Introduction to composition and special effects In our first week, we looked at a multitude of various title sequence and openings for shows and tv series. For my group, we looked at the intros for Westworld, Daredevil, the Defenders and Dark. What we noticed between all these intros is the heavy reliance for CGI, special effects and compositing to sell the show itself. A major reason for using these special effects is to give an abstract summation of the theme and mood of the respective show. Music was also used to great effect to sell the atmosphere of the show. The visuals were also synced to the music to create a coherent visual narrative. We realized that the major reason for having an intro is to give the viewer's an abstract glimpse into the world of the show that they are about to enter, and the complex special effects used for the intro are a major selling point for the theme. 3/29/18 Week 1-14 Kamal Afiq [0330643] Games Design Week 6 Week I: Introduction to games and game design Today we were tasked with creating our own unique card game from a standard deck of 52 cards. Our game was as follows. The game can be played by up to 6 people. Each person is given 7 random cards at the beginning of the game. The game advances in turns around the players. When it is a particular player's turn, they must take a card from their hand and place it on a table; saying a certain number. If the other players 'have' the same card they may place their chosen card on the table as well. All those that place a card down can take another from the stack after everyone else has made their move in the round. The main mechanic of the game is the bluff. A person may say that they have chosen a specific card, while in fact it was a bluff and they have placed a different one. Anyone during the turn can take the chance and call out the person on a bluff; ...

Semester 2 Kamal Afiq [0330643] 2D Animation Lecture Notes  Throughout the course, we closely followed the module outline and did a variety of different exercises and projects that further flesh out the world of 2D animation. Our first project was to create a simple animation, where an object transforms into another in an appealing way. For the stop motion exercise, we were introduced to the basic and primitive foundation of animation, and that helped us to understand the later subjects to come. We had an in-depth look at a large variety of animations by various studios and companies and analysed how they made their own worm and animation. Going through the 12 principles of animation was a great way for us to understand the underlying principles and mechanics that made famous animations so appealing, visually and technically. We did walk-cycle studies to understand how the human body moved and how to animate it. We recorded one another doing exaggerated movement...
