Week 4 Lecture
We were given a lecture about organizing websites. Information should be organized into easy to understand chunks. Complex sites require proper information architecture. When confronted with complex information, users create mental models or interpretations about how it works. The success of a website's organization depends on how well you match user expectations.
Navigation systems should neither be too shallow or too deep. If they're shallow, menu lists will be very long. If too deep, navigation will become confusing.
There are two different types of webpages: static webpages dont change and are made by plain code and HTML. Dynamic webpages have content that changes and are written in server-side scripting languages like PHP, JSP, Coldfusion, etc.Well balanced navigation and site hierarchy offer users menus to make it easy and quick to access information. Websites often use hierarchy diagrams to organize and categorize.
An absolute path or a full path is the location of a filesystem object relative to the root directory.
A relative path is a location relative to another directory.
