28/3/17 - 25/4/17, Week 1 - Week 5 Kamal Afiq [0330643] Typography and Hypertextuality Exercises Lecture Notes Lecture 1: Introduction Mr Vinod and Mr. Shamsul started off by asking us what we think typography is. The general consensus was that typography was essentially the art of text, and how text could be made into art and deliver a message. They walked us through the module outline and showed us examples of previous students' portfolios. We would be mainly delving into the world of calligraphy and type. Our first task was to get together into groups and research a particular calligraphic hand. My group chose Gothic textura quadrata. A classical, 13th century Black Letter font developed in Germania, mainly used for inscriptions and stained glass. T&H Week 9 - Week 10 Project 2 Font Design

30/5/17 - 6/6/17, Week 9 - Week 10 Kamal Afiq [0330643] Typography and Hypertextuality Project 2 Font Design Lecture Notes Week 9 We didn't have a traditional lecture this week. In class we focused our efforts on further developing our fonts; digitization, fixing errors, etc. We reviewed our progress and gave us feedback on the work we had completed so far. Week 10 We were not given a theoretical lecture this week. Instead Mr. Vinod gave us a lecture/demonstration on how to use FontLab Studio. He talked us through how to setup the font parameters; e.g. Ascender and Cap height. He also taught us how to transfer our glyphs from Illustrator to Fontlab, and how to carry out letterspacing and kerning on our font. He also taught us how to generate the font for use. 01/07/19- ,  Week 1-7 Kamal Afiq [0330643] Advertising Principles & Practice D&AD New Blood Week 1 This week we're given a rundown and brief over the D&AD New Blood program, and were given the chance to explore a multitude of different design briefs for different client companies. The ones that I'm considering are: Virgin Atlantic - A campaign for spontaneous holiday adventures The Times & The Sunday Times - Being informed is worth paying for Monotype - Use type to celebrate a community Microsoft Surface - Campaign to show Brand perception and celebrate creativity Adobe & LADbible - Create an inspirational story that spreads a positive social message Lecture Notes Advertising is derived from the Latin word Advertere .
